Trusted solutions for mission-critical systems WGT Features	Tools Terraprova Workload Generation Tool WGT Features The Terraprova Workload Generation Tool (WGT) was designed from the onset to be a highly scalable facility to enable testing of large heterogeneous systems. The architecture allows testing to simulate thousands of concurrent users whether it is high volume OLTP or Internet ready applications. Performance data is captured on a per message or transaction basis, and can be supplemented with additional information provided by the test program, to give additional insight into performance problem areas. The WGT combines a set of utilities, infrastructure components, and libraries that facilitates testing of large scalable computer systems. The framework includes a test console that allows the real time management and monitoring of the test environment, driver and controller components, and data collectors that capture system and application metrics. Test agents are customized to generate the desired workloads on the system under test. These agents can supplement the response time data with transactional data that can give insights in the various components of that response time (i.e. the number of rows returned from a database, the response times of individual sub-transactions, or the number of web links followed). This information is cross-referenced with performance data captured by the data collectors. The complete data set is then graphed to give an overall picture of system performance and to identify bottlenecks.
